All About Sketch
Okay, so maybe that title is a little misleading. But, still–many of you wanted to know what my book is about. This is when it occurred to me that I have made a lot of new friends throughout my little journey here, because I talked quite about Sketch while I was writing it, but since some of us hadn’t actually met yet that didn’t really do you any good.
So let me first say: Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by the blog. I’m glad to have you here. To those of you I’ve met in the real world–dude, I love you for stopping by my virtual home, and those of you that are my online friends–dude, I love you just as much, if not more than my real ones. (Shhh… don’t tell them I said that–they might get their feelings hurt.)
Whoa, this blog post just got completely off topic. It reminds me of this college professor I had for a short story class. He would open up the text to discuss a story, and fifteen minutes later he was schooling us on the importance of regular cranberry juice drinkage and your bladder. When he realized just how random he was being he would hold his pointer finger up in the air in a total Eureeka moment and say, “But I digress!” like he was going to immediately get back on topic, but he never EVER did. I still don’t know what that Barbie-Q story symbolizes. Growl.
But, I digress… (you see what I did there?)
Sketch is my Young Adult Superhero novel, except that there’s a bit of a twist. Sketch McGee is a 16 year old super VILLAIN that can draw the future. You see, when your brother is all Speedy-Gonzales-like, your dad can make any machine bend to his will, and your mom can read your freakin’ mind–drawing stuff is kind of a lame power. So, the story is about her figuring out how she fits into this family and just why she matters with them.
She’s a total band geek, because well, I was a total band geek. She even plays the same instrument as I did and everything. (Bonus points if you are NOT related to me and can tell me what instrument that was.) And, she meets a super cute hunka-hunka-burnin-hotness new guy in school that plays the trombone.
Anyway, I feel like if I give more away, then I am kind of spoiling it–so I’ll just leave it at that. She’s balancing her uber boring cover life with her way too exciting secret life, and we get to watch her grown into an awesome person.
I’m beyond excited about it, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone! Thanks guys for being interested in my story. You rock the casbah.*
I will answer the other questions tomorrow, oh yes I will!
*No casbah’s were actually rocked during the making of this blog post.
Have a Nice Day and Watch out for the Big Yellow Chicken.
