Can’t wait to make the husband do this PlayOn thing for me…I’m all about more television watching opportunities!

Dadditude Reply:

I already have a PlayOn license, so if I am selected as a winner, I will gladly pass that part of the prize on to some other lucky person and use part of the $50 to purchase a year of PlayOn Premium. PlayOn is awesome.

Fred F May 10th, 2010 at 6:04 pm

I *love* PlayOn! It’s never been anything but easy to use, very helpful, and a lifetime license would only make me happier. :) Thanks!!

I went and read your post about PlayOn (and left a comment there as justJoan). I’m going to have to figure out how to make it work with the Wii (we only have regular Xbox and Playstation 2).

My wife needed her TopChef Masters fix.
So what is a good husband to do?

Scour the internet to find a solution (and get her a little drunk while I scour).

I find the PlayOn trial . . run it through the Wii. She gets her cooking fix . . and I’m a suburban hero.

Everyone wins. Everyone at my house at least! ;)

Larissa May 10th, 2010 at 7:20 pm

I have no idea what PlayOn is, but it sounds super cool.

I will be tweeting. :)

Read your post, too. Sounds awesome! :)

If music be the food of love, PlayOn;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.
That strain again! it had a dying fall:
O, it came o’er my ear like the sweet sound,
That breathes upon a bank of violets,
Stealing and giving odour! Enough; no more:
‘Tis not so sweet now as it was before.
O spirit of love! how quick and fresh art thou,
That, notwithstanding thy capacity
Receiveth as the sea, nought enters there,
Of what validity and pitch soe’er,
But falls into abatement and low price,
Even in a minute: so full of shapes is fancy
That it alone is high fantastical.

I love PlayOn so much that I talked my Dad into buying PlayOn for all 4 of my brothers. Now we are a PlayOn family :)

Tony May 10th, 2010 at 7:30 pm

And done! I totally just spammed my Facebook page with praise of Playon and linked to your blog!!! I used the cute little logo of “Playon + squirrel = Happiness” as the thumbnail! :) Hopefully 3 entries is the charm! :P

PlayOn sounds great! I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before.

Ross May 10th, 2010 at 7:45 pm

I’m excited to get SP Studios support. That will go along great when I can actually afford to purchase NHL Gamecenter.

Oh yeah… PlayOn :)

Okay, there’s NEVER been anything like it before! RockOn, PlayOn!

Brian May 10th, 2010 at 9:28 pm

PlayOn is the best!

Dianna May 10th, 2010 at 10:02 pm

I purchased PlayOn via http://www.yugster.com a couple of months ago but have not been able to use it because I only have a PS2 and so I am hoping to find a great deal on a Wii so I can use this software. I haven’t even used it and I can hardly keep the excitement down as I just moved to my 1st house and I don’t have cable or satellite so it is an easy sell to just start using PlayOn. Would love to win Lifetime license of PlayOn and $50 GC I could use to apply to my Wii. Please randomly select ME?@# Thank you.

You review of PlayOn was fantastic, you hit the nail on the head. I have been using it on our xbox 360 for about 6 months now and I am still in awe of all that I can watch with it. My kids love it too, and I have added many plugins to keep them occupied like Nick Jr, etc. I would recommend PlayOn to anyone who enjoys watching tv or videos online or to anyone who is sick of the outrageous cable or satellite bills.

R. Moose May 11th, 2010 at 12:37 am

PlayOn not only works great thru my xbox360 it is even more convienent streaming from my Sony LCD tv with dlna.

Evan Gerking May 11th, 2010 at 7:16 am

PlayOn is awesome and is a great way to find something to watch when there is nothing on TV — if they can get it right with the premium package I might just drop my cable for good.

misty provencher May 11th, 2010 at 11:39 am

Yes, playon you masters of video, you kings of the computer…

David J. West May 11th, 2010 at 11:48 am

I can honestly say I never heard of PlayOn until today-so you are a marketing genius because you reached this barbarian.

Charles May 11th, 2010 at 1:44 pm

I just built a SageTV PVR with the hopes of integrating PlayOn with it. I have to admit the recent pricing change is dramatic, so I expect higher quality for my dollar. Free would be sweet though :-)

SNAPU2 May 11th, 2010 at 4:48 pm

Great Blog! Lots of useful information! PlayOn looks like a great service. Hope to try it.

GranaktheITOrc May 11th, 2010 at 5:43 pm

Excellent post! I’ve been mulling over going for PlayOn, but this pushed me over the top I think! Here’s to a great piece of software! Cheers.

Dustin Anderson May 11th, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Check it out! Playon! awesome! I can’t wait to play my Hulu feeds and other things on my Wii!

Joe Spiegel May 11th, 2010 at 6:01 pm

I’ve been a PlayOn subscriber forever, or at least from about when they started. It’s da bomb! I got hooked when I found I could watch episodes of The Time Tunnel on my living room TV via Hulu. I was sold. Ahhhh, from my yoot!

Joe May 11th, 2010 at 6:57 pm

Why I like PlayOn? Because I can stream video with it thru my XBox 360, I can watch movies, TV, music videos, everything but live sports. I was able to ditch cable and start saving money!!!

Swiftypants May 11th, 2010 at 6:58 pm

PlayOn is pretty awesome. Check it out. I’ve been watching old episodes of Robotech (on Hulu) that I haven’t seen since I was a wee lad.

On a side note, Blogger won’t let me add your blog to my blog roll. It says it can’t detect the URL and won’t show updated entries. Has this happened with anyone else or is it just Blogger hating me again?

PlayOn is great. I used it to keep my wife busy watching movies so I can spend more time playing video games.

I love me some PlayOn! I’ve been a huge advocate since the early Beta testing days prior to it having a price tag. It was great then, and just continues to get even better with every successive update.

I’ve not had cable for 4 years, with PlayOn there’s just no need. And the pricing is more than worth it considering the savings opposed to cable. :D

Quasigrue May 12th, 2010 at 12:59 pm

PlayOn has replaced cable for my family. I subscribed last year, and after moving it to a dedicated machine, it’s been smooth sailing. It’s been a solid product that I absolutely recommend.

Mike May 12th, 2010 at 1:05 pm

PlayOn is great. Now only if the NFL would allow their games to be streamed live, PlayOn would be 100x more valuable to me.

Vince Averello May 12th, 2010 at 1:06 pm

PlayOn gives my PS3 one more use. Yet another excuse to buy a top-of-the-line gaming system

Asten Rathbun May 12th, 2010 at 1:06 pm

I have been using PlayOn since it was beta. It’s absolutely wonderful. My DVR is paid for, but ancient and lo-def. Playon + Hulu + XBox360 is one of the best things ever

Bill May 12th, 2010 at 1:06 pm

PlayOn is great. I recommend it highly.

patricktna May 12th, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I love watching hulu on my xbox via playon. Greatest add on.

Jim N. May 12th, 2010 at 1:10 pm

Watching old Bob Newhart shows with my family gathered around the TV brings back memories of my youth. Now, I can do the same with my kids. PlayOn lets us all watch great shows together, on our time, on our TV, not crowded around a small computer screen. PlayOn is the best!

Robert May 12th, 2010 at 1:11 pm

Playon is awesome for watching Chuck after the tornado coverage is over.

Jill May 12th, 2010 at 1:13 pm

My b/f picked up PlayOn when we were at PAX East. Now that I’ve seen what it can do it would be awesome to have at my house on my 360.

Great product!!

Randy May 12th, 2010 at 1:20 pm

I have been using PlayOn since almost the beginning. There have been up and downs, but the product does what I have needed it to do. The available 3rd party plugins and scripts have been a life saver.

Aaron May 12th, 2010 at 1:26 pm

I tweeted, facebooked, and read your review. ;)

I agree – I thought the same thing about the quality…I was worried it was going to look horrible scaled up, but not bad at all!

Jeff May 12th, 2010 at 1:27 pm

I have been using PlayOn to watch Hulu on my PS3 for more than a year. I reduced cable to the bare minimum basic service last summer and actually prefer watching via PlayOn/Hulu!

zabari May 12th, 2010 at 1:29 pm

PlayOn is grea! Especially with the plugins. Also if you have PS3 and PSP you can do remote play, Hulu on the go yes please!

Jeff Mahoney May 12th, 2010 at 1:49 pm

Exaggerations aside, it is a totally cool piece of software!

Playon rocks hard metal!

Jason breedlove May 12th, 2010 at 4:57 pm

I already have a lifetime playon license. However, I’ve been really wanting to give playon to my sister So sign me up!

Curt May 12th, 2010 at 5:24 pm

Love PlayOn to watch all MLB.TV games!

Jeff May 12th, 2010 at 7:53 pm

Yes! PlayOn is totally the bomb, for sure. I’ve used it since it was in beta. Like most everyone here, I’ll probably donate the license to a needy friend if I win.

The PlayOn staff is very responsive, and they update the software frequently. It’s a good product that works well, and is getting better all the time. It helped my wife get through many sick days at home, taught me who House is and what The Amazing Race is, and has allowed TV to fit into our lives, instead of the other way around.

To anyone just entering this contest to get something for free: if you don’t win, give PlayOn a shot (it’s a free trial) and you just may end up purchasing it.

One technical word of advice: Unless you have a very fast wireless network, use a network cable to connect your PlayOn PC with the router.

Travis May 12th, 2010 at 8:50 pm
